Last year Crystal Renn’s weight loss came under much scrutiny and still today people want to know about her weight loss; especially since the recent pictures of her at the NY premiere of Madonna’s new film, W.E. Crystal, who has walked for designers including Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier and Zac Posen, shot to fame as a UK size 16 plus size model. But now she is around a UK size 10 which has sparked concerns that she may be anorexic again.

Crystal Renn lost weight after a nasty break up with her biyfriend and travelling. She decided to take a life-changing journey to Patagoniamade in a bid to take her future into her hands and get her self back. She went with her grandmother where they would sometimes hike for up to 15 hours a day. She became aware of how much she loved this healthy lifestyle where she was out in the fresh air and eating healthy food but not counting calories. She had been previously scared of following exercise programs in case it became the beginning of a return to being anorexic as she was nine years ago. However, this trip made her realise that this was not going to happen and became the beginning of one of the biggest changes in her life. She is not anorexic now and is between a size 6 and 10. In the past she has been every conceivable fashion size from a 00 to a size 16. She feels the size she is now is an interesting size to be as models tend to be at the extremes where as she is now in the middle. She is continuing to enjoy a modeling career but her goal in life is to live in moderation and be at peace. “I don’t let my body dictate whether I’m happy or not,” Crystal Renn stated. “The goal is to go live, and worry about the rest later.”
Crystal Renn is still with modeling agency Ford Models; however they do not refer to her as ‘plus size’ any longer. Infact, a lot of the press is labeling her ‘former plus size’. Crystal Renn has just appeared in the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue which according to People Magazine is conquering one of the highest peaks of beauty today. What do you think of this ‘former plus size’ model? Even though she is not a plus size model, Crystal Renn hopes she is still an inspiration telling Grazia: ‘I want the women who look up to me as a role model to know that I haven’t set out to lose weight… I’m trying to be who I am and not let anyone else dictate what weight I should be.’
