The government has convened a group of experts to identify non-legislative solutions to tackle the causes of low levels of body confidence. This includes representatives from health and fitness, fashion and retail, youth and education, media and advertising, and the beauty sectors. And the plus size magazine Beautiful has taken part. The editor, Sue Thomason has even given evidence at the parliamentary inquiry this week into the Causes and Consequences of Body Image Anxiety in the UK.

Channel 5 to launch new show: Big Body Squad
Channel 5 has announced their intentions to make a new show called Big Body Squad. This will be a 6 part series that follows the men and women whose job it is to look after the nation and its growing needs. With nearly a million morbidly obese people in England, ambulance teams, fire crews, carers, and more are having to adapt to be able to provide a service for Britain’s ‘Big Society’.

Both Ben Cohen and Gareth Thomas are inspirational men indeed. Not the stereotypical beer swilling, rugby chanting blokes that I certainly associate with Rugby, they are caring and thoughtful. That IS their style. Both are good looking men and have their own style. Ben has a more boyish look to him whilst Gareth is all about the muscles. However, both have something other than rugby in common. Ben has retired from rugby to focus on combating bullying and homophobia in sports, whilst Gareth ‘came out’ a couple of years ago and has been reassembling his life without his wife. Plus size images go viral on Facebook
Is it just me and my network of friends or have you noticed an influx of plus size images on Facebook? It started a couple of weeks back with an image from 2010 of Tara Lynn sitting in a chair in the nude. You know the image? Then just last week another image appeared with a row or curvy beauties from the Marilyn Monroe era compared with models of today. Finally, today, another image appeared comparing a health guru to the food lover, Nigellea Lawson.

Inspirational mum is a champion sumo wrestler
She is no ordinary 46 year old mother and child minder, 6ft and 32 stone Sharran Alexander is a champion sumo wrestler! Sharran was introduced to sumo wrestling when a UK TV station was looking for four women to participate in Sumo world championship. However, Sharran is the only one still competing.
