As child obesity increases in France the French government have sanctioned a tax on sugary drinks which has been imposed this week. It is believed this tax will raise more than 100 million Euros for the government which they will use to fund lower social security charges for farm workers. Good all round then?

What do you think of all of these plus size celebrities who have lost weight? First of all there was Pauline Quirke followed by Dawn French and now Ruth Jones has followed the trend. The only curvy star who has publically spoken in favour of her curves in the last year has been Martine McCutcheon who said “I make the most of myself and I’m real.” Ruth Jones, star of Gavin and Stacy has already dropped from a size 24 to a 12, but she still wants to lose another 3 stone.
It is not just a woman thing: 60% of men are unhappy with their body
It seems it is not just women who worry about how they look. A recent study carried out by the University of West England found that 4 out of 5 men are unhappy with their body showing that they are concerned about their body image.
Reetone shoes see price slashed after sale and lawsuit claims
Well, I am sure it does not come as any surprise that the brand Reebok were sued over claims their trainer Reetone shoes and other similar shoes could enhance bum and leg muscles. Call me skeptical, but come on, a trainer that takes the hard work out of exercise? The scientific claims made by Reebok could not be substantiated hence the court claim which has meant Reebok need to pay out $25 million. Ouch!

World’s first iPad application dedicated to Plus Size Fashion now available
The plus size fashion magazine Ma-Grande-Taille.com, the sister site of Plus Size and Tall, was one of the first of its kind launched in France where 40% of French women wear a clothes size 44 and up. The internet magazine launched in 2007 and has been growing ever since. And now, 5 years later, they have launched the first ever iPad application dedicated to plus size fashion and celebrities. The app, called MaGrandeTaille, is available worldwide, for free, in the Apple App Store.

Shoes increasing in width: Vanity Sizing?
Whether or not you call it vanity sizing, clothes sizes definitely change in measurement across the decades and brands. An example of this is a size 12 skirt I bought 15 years ago from Next is closer to a modern day size 14. But is this vanity sizing or just manufacturers using measurement statistics to apportion sizes? Changes in sizes are not just affecting clothes. Shoes are also changing in their size, becoming wider, but again…is this vanity sizing? It appears some manufacturers and brands are increasing the width of their shoes whilst others are including wider fittings into their range.
