Retailers are suffering difficult times at the moment which is no surprise considering we are in a recession. However, private equity firm Sun European quickly snapped up Alexon promising to save nearly 3000 jobs. Jane McNally, the chief executive of Alexon, whom Sun European intends to retain, said: “We are extremely pleased to have a new owner which gives our business the more appropriate capital structure that we have been seeking.”

He added: “These well-recognised brands have a market-leading position in a small but growing niche. It’s summer, it’s summer! That is what I am chanting to myself! School is over for me until September and I can kick back and relax in the sun….for 11 weeks!! OK, so I am just showing off.
