Ann Summers announce their new ‘face’ and she has curves!
There is more evidence this week that curvy women are finding a firmer foot in the media as Ann Summers announces their winner of ‘Find A Face’, a competition which was launched in November to find a new face for their lingerie. The final 10 girls featured in Ann Summers first ever TV ad and viewers were urged to vote for their favourite girl. And the winner? With a total of 30,000 people voting for their favourite contestant, size 16 Lucy Moore won.

Plus Model Magazine hits the headlines with thought provoking images
This months Plus Model Magazine has hit the headlines with a bang this week as they ask “Plus Size Bodies, What is wrong with them anyway?” The magazine features naked images of plus-size model Katya Zharkova along side her ‘noraml’ counterparts as well as startling statistics such as ‘Twenty years ago the average fashion model weighed 8% less than the average woman. Mujeres con Curvas in Tenerife for Carnival Queen
Carnival comes once a year in most Latin countries and the Canaries is no exception as February arrives and the streets become full with colourful processions, dancing, and baterias. And of course, each carnival has to have a carnival queen, something which is taken very seriously. The position usually falls to the stereotypical type and I have even seen pre teens voted as Carnival Queen. But now the curvy women of Tenerife, one the islands in the Canaries, is taking a stand. Founder of ‘Mujeres con Curvas, Mujeres que Enamoran’ Norma Gonzalez says “curvy women want to be candidates for Queen of the Santa Cruz Carnival and now nothing will prevent us, neither age nor height nor that we are not thin.”

She’s not just a plus size model, she’s a Supermodel. That’s right we’re talking about Brazilian model Fluvia Lacerda. The size 18 model has graced the covers and pages of Vogue, Elle and even Playboy. And this month she is on the cover of Beautiful magazine in a gorgeous fashion spread. Fluvia has a lot of influence on fashion and is making everyone rethink if high fashion is just for skinny girls. Even one of the world’s biggest designers, Marc Jacobs, is set to design a clothing line for women over a size 14.

Tara Lynn is not a French model, but did grace the cover of French ELLE
In March 2010 Tara Lynn appeared in the ground breaking French addition of Elle back in March 2010 heralding the increase of plus size models in women’s glossy magazines. The issue was a special curvy issue with pictures of plus size models Tara Lynn, Big Beauty and Johann Dray in a 32 page spread. Since appearing in Elle, Tara Lynn has also celebrated her curves in Vogue Italia and Glamour Magazine. Tara has also modeled for navabi and La Redoute.
