It is fair to say that many European TV shows and other media have different styles and tastes than those in the UK. So, what do we make of the May issue of Paris Vogue which features Penelope Cruz as guest editor and inside a photo shoot by Steven Klein with plus size model Crystal Renn in which her pubes are very much in the centre of one of the pictures along with other suggestive and partially nude pictures.
In recent months there have been many well talked about nude photos of plus size models showing their all but none of these pictures have been quite as suggestive as the ones with Crystal Renn in Vogue Paris.
In January 2010 Crystal Renn spoke to the New York Times where she said “”Because I am a plus-size model, they like to make an example… They see a roll, and they say, ‘Ooh, a roll!’ And they focus on it.”
However, these photos seem to be saying a lot more!
In particular the photo of Crystal Renn on all fours showing her naked bottom seems more about sex than plus size fashion.

Penelope Cruz included Crystal Renn in the May edition as: “The story of Crysal Renn touched me very much. I hope it inspires other women like her to share their experiences.”
So what do you think of the photos? Would you think about them in a different way if they were of a skinnier model? Certainly, it is not often one sees pubic hair in a fashion shoot for a mainstream fashion magazine.
I must admit to being taken aback a little when I first saw the pictures. They do not offend me, in fact I rather like them, but I was surprised to see them in a fashion magazine.
