Crystal Renn in new Jean-Paul Gaultier ad campaign

The relationship between Crystal Renn and Jean Paul Gautier goes back as far as 2005, when she appeared as the bride in the finale of one of his catwalk shows. And now, in 2010, Crystal Renn has paired up with Jean Paul Gaultier again as one of the faces of the designer’s Autumn-Winter 2010-11 campaign.

Crystal is also joined by Kelly Moreira and the ad was shot by Inez and Vinoodh. Crystal Renn was interviewed by Stylelist where she commented “Being a part of this campaign is not just a highlight in my career, but in my life. The ad is the perfect example of diversity in the fashion industry and should be an example to all about how to proceed forward and make change.” This statement comes amidst controversy over her new slimmer appearance. This new Jean Paul Gautier ad for his autumn 2010 collection is missing what most advertising campaigns see as a must, a small size white female. Not only has jean Paul Gautier cast plus size model Crystal Renn, but also Chinese model Pin Hue and French model Kelly Moirera.

The ad campaign has caused quite a stir with accusations of the pictures having been retouched.
