Plus-size retailer EVANS (link: evans.co.uk) will launch later this year a new website catering to plus size teens. With 1 out of 3 British teenagers now obese, it is high time a well-know retailer had done something to address the need for trendy junior plus size clothing.
Evans, formerly known as “Evans Outsize”, has been trying to target the younger crowd for a while. Its “Beth Ditto for Evans” collection is the epitome of this effort to attract women under 30.
However, Evans has decided that, to be taken seriously by plus size teens, it needed to launch a separate website. The name has not been chosen yet (“Evans Junior”? “), and neither has the actual launch date been made public.
The site will be selling several brands, among which one made women’s streetwear supplier Ruby Rocks.The goal is to offer trendier clothing than those currently offered in Evans stores.
Competitor YoursClothing (link: yoursclothing.co.uk) has been doing at a good job at offering younger / cheaper clothing for a while. It wille be intersting to see how Evans can rock their boat.
