Lets face it, most women have the idea that Mr Right is someone who is tall, rich and sensitive. For centuries, women have always gone for men taller than them, and men have gone for women that are smaller. Whether it be a controlling thing or just because women feel safer with someone bigger, it’s always been the “norm”. That’s why celebrity couples like Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have attracted so much attention.
Nowadays, it’s not an issue, especially with average-height women. However, New Look (site: newlook.co.uk) have come up with a fun and cheeky t-shirt: Looking for Mr Tall.
The t-shirt is specifically designed for tall women who are 5 ft 7 and above. With average t-shirts, tall women find that they don’t fit properly, normally being too short and lifting up at the back. With this one you don’t have to worry, as its been proportionally designed with those ladies in mind. This means you don’t have to clutch your midriff every time you reach up with your arms.
The Looking for Mr Tall t-shirt lettering has a diamante stud outline, and has ribbed edging on the neckline and sleeves.
The Mr Tall t-shirt goes perfectly with jeans or track-suit bottoms for a casual, day look. New Look has it priced at £14 and it’s available in up to a size 18.
The ‘little miss’ design is a popular and identifiable design, and has been used on many t-shirts and clothing in the past. It gives the t-shirt a sense of child-like fun, and reminds us not to always be too serious.
Thanks to Paris Hilton, slogan t-shirts have become a huge way to express opinions. It’s even got to the point where when a celebrity couple splits, the public are seen brandishing Team ‘X’ t-shirts to show their support (as seen with Team Brad/Team Jen and Team Pete and Team Kate).
Although some of the more famous ones, like “make love, not war” are relatively tolerable, I’m not overly crazy on this fashion trend. Because of the type of celebrity culture associated with it, slogan tees for me are slightly tacky and cliche. That’s just my opinion though.
Fun, cartoon-y t-shirts are better than ‘serious’ slogans – lets face it – if you have to convey your message to others by branding it across your chest, no-one is really going to take you seriously.
New Look (site: newlook.co.uk) do have some great t-shirts though, although Looking for Mr Tall will be one I’m going to give a miss.
