Kiss the Curves: a Plus-Size Fashion Gala

January 25, 2010 by Elli

kiss the curves Kiss the Curves: a Plus Size Fashion GalaThe name behind the Kiss the Curves fashion gala is Tracie Collins. A plus size model herself, Tracie decided to create this amazing event.

Tracie Collins will, in February 2010, present the first ever plus-size fashion gala that will showcase the work of some of the top plus-size fashion designers in the industry.

The event will take place in the Bay Area.

Tracie’s aim for this event is to bring positive awareness to the plus size community, demonstrating that plus-size fashion has earned its own equal right in the world of fashion.

Along with this comes the satisfaction of promoting designers you know are creating clothes with the plus-size woman in mind, and therefore the fashion at the gala will look more ‘real’ being modelled on the catwalk compared to the regular size zero fashion that has dominated the catwalk in the past.

The Kiss the Curves fashion gala is all about celebrating beautiful, curvacious women.

First we will find out a little bit more about Tracie Collins.

Along with working on the extensive details for Kiss the Curves, continuing with her acting career with the hopes of landing roles in feature films and major motion pictures, finalizing a script for her own movie production, and gearing up for the release of her book, Bedtime Stories, a series of sixteen short adult stories, which goes to publication in 2010, Tracie Collins is proving her ability to be a multi-faceted mogul and a household name, one dream at a time.

Rather than let the cruelties and injustices in the fashion industry make her hesitant to pursue modeling, she decided it was time for the fashion industry to take a class in size acceptance and see the beauty in women with curves.

She has modeled in runway shows for Ashley Stewart, Mocha Bride Magazine, Rip the Runway in The Bay, City of Oakland Arts; been in print ads for Orisa Wear Fashions and graces the book cover for Van Viva Photography.

The Kiss the Curves fashion gala is a great way to show appreciation for all the hard work the designers and creators put into plus-size fashion, and appreciation for people like Tracie Collins who make it all happen.
