What Not To Wear star Stacy London is set to host a new show for TLC in What Not To Wear style only for plus size women. She will present the show alongside boutique owners Lisa and Jim Dolan. The boutique Lee Lee’s Valise is plus-size-focused and Lisa even designs some of the lines.
The show will highlight three different customers in each episode in addition to showcasing the Dolan family. Lisa and her Lee Lee’s Valise team will overhaul the customers and help them find flattering clothes and styles so that they can
celebrate their curves. Apparently both Lisa and Jim Dolan are very outspoken so the series promises to be very dramatic with tears and laughter. A TLC spokesman told Mail Online that featured stories ‘range from a teacher who is looking to make her “casual” (ie, leggings and cardigans) way of dressing more work appropriate’ to ‘a woman who had retained the majority of her baby weight and now has no idea how to dress her new body’.
What I have found particularly interesting is that the network claims that 18 per cent of clothes available to buy in America are an American size 14 (or UK size 16) or over, although the average size of an American woman is 14. This does not give plus size women much opportunity to shop for fashionable plus size clothes. With such limited options; let’s hope then that this new show will also highlight the shortcomings of the fashion industry and help promote plus size fashion.
Lee Lee’s Valise has already appeared on a TLC show in a What Not To Wear episode when they helped transform a woman of 6’1. If you want a sneaky peak at the clothes available from Lee Lee’s Valise then why not visit their online boutique at www.leeleesvalise.com.
