Big men often have problems finding good underwear that fits comfortably.
Up until quite recently, big men’s underwear has not been an area that brands and shops have focused on, and thus consumers needing this service have struggled finding nice underwear that fits.
As there is not just a branding of big and small, but a wide variety of sizes, including the fact that overweight people can either be slightly overweight, and range to extremely overweight, it is difficult for one company to solve the problem alone.
For those guys that are slightly overweight, they may try and buy slightly too small underwear, forgoing being comfortable with size in order to choose nicer styles or brands.
This creates what is known as “muffin tops”.
As the underwear is too small, it presses too tightly on the waist, and creates a “spill-over effect” where your fat is pushed up and over your waistband.
Not only does this make your overall figure look bigger, but it will also make you feel uncomfortable.
Some companies have, in fact, targeted this problem. Andrew Christian (site: banglads.com) has invented the “anti-muffin waistband”.
His boxers and briefs come in a wide variety of patterns, and some styles are available in relatively large sizes.
One of my favourites is this Andrew Christian Football Boxer.
For people that are more overweight, finding both comfortable and stylish men’s underwear can be even more difficult.
Your average company doesn’t really go beyond XL in underwear, (XXL if you’re lucky), and therefore it is a struggle when looking for particular size choices, brands and colours.
The best way to find men’s underwear you like is to go to companies that do bigger sizes and choose the stretchable option for boxers as they will not constrict larger thighs the way that traditional boxers will do.
Another option is to opt for briefs, as they will allow for more thigh room and therefore be more comfortable.
Jacamo (site: jacamo.co.uk) for big men’s underwear, as not only do they have a huge variety of brands and styles, they also go up to 5XL in size.
Another advantage of Jacamo’s is that no matter what size you choose, the price remains the same, which is an excellent incentive to buy more pairs!
One of my favourites from the site is this Ben Sherman printed pair.
Marks and Spencer (site: marksandspencer.com) also have some lovely quality underwear for larger men.
