1. Mike and Molly is an American sitcom shown on CBS about an obese Chicago cop and an overweight school teacher who fall in love at Overeaters anonymous.
2. The show stars Billy Gardell as the obese Chicago cop Mike and Melissa McCarthy as Molly Flyn the overweight teacher. Billy Gardell has previously appeared in ‘My Name is Earl’ whilst Melissa McCarthy has been the supporting player in ‘Gilmore Girls’ and ‘Samantha Who’. Both are great as Mike and Molly.
3. The show premiered on 20/9/2010 on CBS and has been produced by sitcom veteran Chuck Lorre.
4. Both Mike and Molly suffer from abandonment issues. Mikes dad, also a cop, was much loved and admired, deserted the family for another woman in Florida. Molly’s dad was her fat ally in a family of slim people. He died at the window of a drive through fast food restaurant. “he has been through three times already.†Molly also has a thin mum who tells her overweight daughter she is just big boned.

‘I love this show! I wasn’t sure how it would work out. People have such preconceived notions about fat people that they could/would/might/ shy away from this show. Fat and thin alike. I hope you don’t. This show is really very witty. Mike and Molly are fat people who know they are fat and yet are still comfortable with who they are. Not even most thin people I know can say that. These two fat people are confident, well-spoken, easy-going, comfortable-in-their-own-skin kind of people. Because of that, they are sexy. Nothing is more compelling that self-confidence.
