Miss Curvy France 2012 took place last weekend in the resplendent city of Paris, with glamour very much being the evening’s fundamental fashion accessory. With a steadfast jury in place to judge the beautiful candidates, the contestants were watched over by the likes of Velvet D’Amour (photographer and model), Nathalie Garçon (fashion designer) and Charlotte de Turckheim (actress / director).
Ma Grande Taille were one of the key sponsors of Miss Curvy France 2012, and it was a tough choice to pick a winner from the strong competition. Ultimately though, the winner of Miss Curvy France 2012 (or Miss Ronde as she will also known be known as) is a 29 year old mixed race beauty named Hyslyne Blanchon. Standing at 5’7″ and 212lb, Blanchon is a curvy EU Size 48 or UK size 20 with a stunning explosion of curls and confidence.

There were three Miss Curvy France 2012 runner-ups, with Audrey Martinez, Pinset Emmanuelle and Elodie Hamel each taking first, second and third runner-up places. A special mention also went to Miss Rhône-Alpes and 55 year old Marilyn Anita Dunning who wowed the jury with their fun nature and good humour.
Prior to the event, fashion photographer Vincent Vater photographed the beautiful competitors for their official portraits.
The Miss Curvy France 2012 election was held at Porte de Versailles in Paris within the exhibition park which is often home to massive trade shows from different sectors. Currently it is showing the biggest ready-to-wear exhibition called “Who’s Next”, with hundreds of clothing, footwear and accessories brands from all across the world. The election was a way of creating a buzz around the event, bringing in a wide selection of press, photographers and journalists, with the location itself filled with lights, screens, music and reporters.
There were 21 candidates in all who paraded in three clothing rounds – day wear, lingerie and evening gowns. It was interesting to note that in the lingerie categories, the contestants were wearing mesh drapes and jackets which covered almost everything, and perhaps took away from the key elements of the round – confidence.
We were very impressed by the organisation of the Miss Curvy France 2012 parade, especially as the girls had only three days to learn the correct choreography. Happily there was also a great diversity amongst the candidates with all manner of ages, weights, sizes and skin colour. Perhaps their only mistake was their 20 minute fashion show which featured exhibitors from the Who’s Next exhibition. Very professional with models, dancers and acrobats flying around the hall, the show had nothing to do with Miss Ronde or plus size clothing. It is understandable that the exhibitors wanted to put on a show for the cameras, but it would have made much more sense to at least include plus size models and showcase some of their plus size ranges. This seemed like an incredibly huge oversight.
That aside though, the competitors looked beautiful and we wish Miss Curvy France 2012 the best of luck in her reign. To see more photos and read the original French article, you can visit Ma Grande Taille by clicking here.
