So, the British summer was not all it was supposed to be and has left many people feeling a little dreary as the winter nights slowly draw in. Some people may be thinking of catching a little winter sun, but where are the popular ‘short haul’ destinations for this winter? Furthermore, if you want to get an all over tan, where are the best places to bare all? Naturist beaches may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but keep an open mind and give it a go! It doesn’t matter what you look like on a nude beach. You’ll be pleased upon your first visit to discover that naturists come in every conceivable size, race and age. It’s not a beauty contest. Accept yourself for who and what you are. Naturists feel happier and more confident on nudist beaches where the latest swimwear is an option but not the norm. As a friend of mine said “it feels better not to try and squeeze into uncomfortable clothing, I can just be myself and I am more confident.” Popular destinations for nude winter sun this year include Egypt and the Canaries.
Naturist beaches in Egypt? Yes! Although not heavily advertised. Coral Beach Rotana Resort, Hurghada, Egypt, is probably the closest place to Europe where naturists can enjoy one of the richest ecosystems – coral reefs of the Red Sea. It is a right place to feel harmony with the nature. Fishes there are diverse and since life in the coral reef is concentrated in 2-5 upper meters of the sea, it is easy to observe it without much of equipment; snorkeling is perfect.
Interestingly, nudism is your right in Spain and can be practiced in any public place. However, this does not mean you would want to walk around main cities with no clothes on! It does mean that there is a large choice of stunning beaches where clothes really are optional. I have to admit to being biased towards the Canaries as I am a resident! It is a very popular destination for winter sun lovers and naturists alike. The Canary Islands offer the beach lover such a diversity of destinations. From the deserted golden sands of Fuerteventura and Lanzarote; the Blue Flag beaches of Tenerife and Gran Canaria to the dramatic plunging cliffs and quiet coves of La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro – whatever your choice you’re sure to find the perfect location from the choice of beaches in the Canary Islands. My favorite destination and naturist beach is Charco Del Palo in the North of Lanzarote which has been a naturist village for 25 years. There are separate sea pools suitable for bathing or snorkeling. However, there are many secluded beaches in the North with white sand from Arrieta to Orzola which are perfect. Not to mention in the West Famara and in the South Papagayo.
Of course, no article would be complete with out mentioning Cap D’agde’s village naturiste in Cap D’agde , France. This famous “naked city” offers nude banking, nude shopping and nude dining along with a lovely beach that’s about three miles long. The beach is almost entirely nude. It is not easy to find the definitive answer to where are the best nudist beaches but this web site: Naturism in Europe has a lot of information.
