Glen Johnson, creator and author of fullfigureplus.com has been a man on a mission! Living in America with his wife and children he has been searching the Internet for many years looking for plus size lingerie for his wife. Through the years he has catalogued many links which he shared with his fiends. As blogs evolved he soon realised he could use them as a medium to raise the profile of plus size fashion and requirements. Fullfigureplus.com was born in the autumn of 2004 and now receives 60,000 monthly visitors.
The blog fullfigureplus.com has daily entries on plus size fashion. However, the great thing about this blog is that Glen is not afraid to tell it as it is! This extract is from the post The Struggle to Find Plus Size Lingerie which was posted on the 13th October 2009:
“ This trend of websites that do not have a natural plus size crowd as there base are including a “plus size lingerie” section. Most of these merchants are missing the point of ladies shopping at websites were the models look like them! If size zero is on the front why would any plus size woman look to see if lingerie in her size is available? ”
This frankness may explain why his posts are so popular and result in many comments giving the blog a further dimension of interactivity.
Fullfigureplus.com is well worth the read and also includes links to other interesting blogs and websites. This blog is aimed at both men and women and even includes a post for plus size men looking for a Halloween costume!
As plus-size-tall has been featuring blogs all week so I though I would give the final word to Glen Johnson, who recently wrote in answer to the question “are plus size blogs making a difference?”
“ Yes. What we plus bloggers are doing is positive and for the good of the entire curvy community. Even though blogging can bring out the narcissistic nature in a person which to many can be viewed as negative if the goal is to help others by the spreading of positive information then regardless as to what the Meme Roth’s and other critics say about large men and women we have a voice and we are not afraid to use it to protect our rights. ”
