Fashion blogs have really come into their own since the blogging boom hit the web. Every fashion website now has their own, where they explore their sites latest styles, give opinions and the latest fashion tips.
Plus size brand Curvety‘s blog features mainly news releases concerning the curvy girl, and blogs displaying advertisements from plus size companies looking for real, curvy women to take part in documentaries, features etc.
One of their latest blogs states “Do you want to be a plus size model?”, and offers readers who are a size 16/18 and 5 ft 7 and over to take part in Curvety’s photoshoot.
Although the Curvety blog does include blogs on health issues and fashion, the platforms main use seems to be for advertising opportunities to readers in the plus size world.
Plus size brand YoursClothing’s blog, named Harriet’s Blog, on the other hand, focuses entirely on the latest fashion trends, and has a few blogs relating to the latest fashion tips. It doesn’t advertise any opportunities to get readers involved, nor does it blog about health issues such as gastric bands.
A typical YoursClothing blog is “Plus Size Summer Brights”, which is its latest blog, encouraging readers to update their summer wardrobe with bold, bright colours and flattering patterns.
Harriet’s blog mainly focuses on the YoursClothing range, without really incorporating other lines or sites like Curvety’s blog does.
Plus size brand Marisota has the right ingredients for an excellent blog, combining the fashion tips and opinions on style and trends that YoursClothing focuses on, with blogs about the latest in fashion news and opinions that Curvety includes.
The Marisota blog is based around three women; Claire, Jane and Sophie. These women give their take on fashion tips, styles and news of the plus size world, making the blog more personal and reader-friendly.
A typical Marisota blog is “Loose Women Love the Miraclesuit”, where women who have had various body problems have tested Marisota’s Miraclesuit and given their verdicts.
Another noticeable point is the time span in which blogs are posted on each site’s blogging area. the YoursClothing blog seems to publish a new blog every month or so, which in the world of fashion, is perhaps a bit too long considering all the latest trends and tips that appear periodically.
Curvety is slightly better, with it publishing a couple of blogs every month. However, neither Curvety nor YoursClothing have published anything for July, and we are already into August!
The Marisota blog also does itself no favour by also publishing a few blogs per month, although for some months there are no blogs at all. Whilst it does publish in July, Marisota, Curvety and YoursClothing would benefit a lot more if they had regular blog posts.
