George (site: www.direct.asda.com) was started in 1990 by George Davies and was the first supermarket clothing brand.
The company was bought by ASDA in 1995 and grew to become the largest clothing retailer by volume in the UK today.
George sells Ladieswear (regular and plus size clothing), Menswear, Kidswear and Footwear in ASDA and ASDA Living stores in the UK and online at www.george.com.
The brand is also traded by Wal-mart internationally.
The George brand stands for quality, style and value.
They put their customers first everyday, and care for their colleagues everyday.
They also strive to be the best they can be everyday.
At George at ASDA (site: www.direct.asda.com) they are founder members of the Ethical Trade Initiative (ETI) and use this as a starting point for their ethical standards.
Over the past 10 years Asda/ George has worked hard to promote the welfare of workers in the countries from which they source.
Their target audience is women looking for modern clothing with the supermarket price tag.
Although this supermarket shopping is not for everyone, there are definitely some brilliant bargains to be picked up, especially when it comes to casual clothing and plus size clothing.
Their evening wear has in fact improved drastically over the last couple of years, and the company is good for sparkly tops that can be worn with jeans and heels for a good night out.
George at ASDA (site: www.direct.asda.com) delivers to the UK and to Northern Ireland (although this may take a little longer to reach its destination). Unfortunately at this time it does not deliver outside of the UK.
The sale section of the site sees items with discounts of up to 50%.
Their plus size clothing is cheap and cheerful.
The truth is you shouldn’t expect too much when it comes to quality, as although their items are decent – they are not on the same quality level as those from Debenhams or John Lewis.
However, the price definitely reflects this.
The site is well worth checking out – in addition to the plus size clothing available there are electrical goods, furniture, toys, baby, DIY & motors, sports and leisure, jewelery and watches, gifts and party and living aids.
I had never really considered George for evening wear, I guess I need to check them out again.
