What ends up on the rails in the stores or online is heavily influenced by what is on the catwalk. Designers from all over the world exhibit their latest wild and whaky ideas draped over skinny models and is eventually watered down enough so that ‘normal’ people can wear them. So is there such a thing as French fashion, or Italian fashion, or British fashion? Well, certainly the best designers come from these countries and more and are influenced by people and their surroundings. It is also true that most European women are a lot smarter than their British Counterparts (don’t shoot me, I know I am generalising)…..but what I want to know, is there a difference between French fashion trends and British fashion trends? Well, Plus Size Tall are in an ideal position to find out as their sister site is French. So, what have they been looking at in the last couple of weeks? Bear with me whilst I brush up on my poor schoolgirl French!
Well, by reading the article “Taillissime automne 2009 : Tendances de mode grande taille!” we can see straight away that plus isze fashion in France is enjoying some of the same trends as those in the UK. Rock, Country and a touch of Romance(?). Well, romance is very 80’s and that era is making a come back in the fashion stakes. However, it is worth considering that La Redoute is a French brand being offered in the UK too. Checks, denim, monochrome, faux leather, zips, and biker boots are prevalent in this article.
The article “Extra Belle automne 2009 : Tendances de mode grande taille !” once again show that the plus size fashion in France is checks and knee length boots. However, there does seem to be some different influences such as ties around the bottom of trousers at the ankle, flared capris, and plus four style trousers. Large flower prints also appear to be a feature on tops and dresses.
The article “3Suisses Oh! Les Formes automne 2009 : Tendances de mode grande taille!” demonstrates the the plus size fashion in France is very chic. The influnces are ‘Black and Smart’, ‘Grey and Trendy’, and ‘Cool and Chic’. The style is reminiscent of that found in the Wallis brand. Indeed, the range offered by 3 Suisses is very similar with denim, faux leather, prints, red, and check trends.
