Although there have been a lot of articles giving advice for plus size brides, what if you’re a plus size mother of the bride?
One of the most joyous occasions that exists is marrying off your children. On such a special day, the limelight is not only going to be on the bride, but on her mother too! And so, it’s important you also look your best.
Now we are not suggesting dress in white, or cream. The aim is not to steal the bride’s attention. Instead the aim is to look as good as you feel.
There are a variety of stores that we are going to explore in this article to help dress the plus size mother of the bride.
The first one we are going to look at is Evans (site: evans.co.uk). Under the “Special Occasions” tab, there are a small selection of dresses chosen for special events.
Although the selection is somewhat too casual for me, this purple babydoll dress is a nice choice.
Purple is an excellent choice for the season, and the cups of the dress provide hidden support for busts – perfect for those with bigger chests!
The double straps and ruched detailing around the middle make this a pretty and elegant choice.
The empire line cut will do wonders for figures too!
The dress is only £50, and available in up to a size 32.
The next site to visit is Dorothy Perkins (site: dorothyperkins.com).
Not only are some of the party dresses in the sale (with up to 70% off!), but there are more formal dresses suitable for a wedding.
This rise red scoop back dress is perfect for a wedding. The cut is formal and elegant, and the sparkly waist belt brings the trend up to date.
At only £35 (!) it’s the perfect bargain!
New Look (site: newlook.co.uk) has some great occasion dresses that don’t cost a fortune.
Here, plus size mother of the bride can choose from a huge variety of dresses.
Depending on your age, there are some great metallic dresses on the New Look site, but only dare these if you are quite young. Try opting for only a flash of metal, to keep the dress from looking over the top.
I think New Look would probably be the place to start if you are looking for a nice dress, as they have so many different ones to choose from.
Daxon (site: daxon.co.uk) is another place to try for mother of the bride dresses.
They have dresses for more mature mothers, who perhaps want to adopt a slightly more conservative approach to their outfit.
La Redoute (site: laredoute.co.uk) is another cheap alternative for dresses. You can also team up skirts with nice jackets to create a formal look that’s right for a wedding.
A nice dress is this La Redoute en Plus Dress, which is great for older women that may want to cover up more.
