100 Percent People (site: 100percentpeople.com), an online plus size community resource, recently conducted an interview with Thibault Masson, the brains behind Plus Size Tall.
100 Percent People (site: 100percentpeople.com) starts by asking how the site was originally formed.
The first site that was formed was Ma-Grande-Taille.com, which was based in France and who’s aim it was to provide plus size information, namely based around French designers.
The site was then translated into English, based on English retailers.
Here is Thibault’s reason:
‘On Ma-Grande-Taille.com, our writers often mention UK-based retailers such as Evans, Dorothy Perkins and Yours Clothing. These retailers ship to France and offer great style. So, I thought it was a good idea to give a try with a UK version of our site. I thought that our mix of fashion advice, fashion deals and fashion chatter could maybe interest British readers.’
Thibault goes on to talk about what the latest trends are going to be for Spring and Summer 2010.
He believes that the hottest trends are mainly denim and dark/navy blue pieces, and tribal/exotic patterns.
Tribal patterns work well on shoes, but they also work really well on kaftans and loose fitted tops that can be worn with leggings or denim.
Thibault also highlights the importance of maintaining an online presence for the plus size community:
‘I think it is great that your readers have chosen to become members of your online community. So, I congratulate them on their choice. Creating a visible community can help make plus size fashion more important in the eyes of designers and retailers.’
100 Percent People (site: 100percentpeople.com) went on to ask Thibault about his choice of plus size French clothing.
Thibault’s response was:
‘It comes from the inside. Now, if you were to move to France or if you just came on a shopping trip, here are a few brands you could look at:- Coleen Bow: very romantic clothing, high end, great for women of all sizes, as they offer a wide range of sizes. Cartel de la Mode: cheap and chic, very nice dresses for big girls (currently under construction) Fuegolita: from Marseille, full of sun, colours and energy, Anathéa by Didier Parakian: a French brand that sells really well in Russia, for instance.’
