Portrait of Emme, plus-size model extraordinaire

Emme, celebrated plus size supermodel and plus size icon, was born in New York in 1963. Emme attended Syracuse University where she was awarded with a full athletic scholarship and was invited to the US Olympic Team trials, as well as several US National Team trials. After graduation, she spent two years as reporter and morning anchor for the NBC affiliate KNAZ-TV. Emme married and has a daughter. In 2007 Emme was diagnosed with cancer and split from her husband.

At 5’11″ and a clothes size 20 (uk size) Emme celebrates her curves and encourages other women to do the same through her modeling, chat show appearances, website, and books.  Emme is a pioneer for plus size women in the modeling industry and became the first full figured model to land a contract as cosmetics company spokesperson when she signed with Revlon. The advert shows her as a busy working mum looking gorgeous. Emme is committed to use her career as a plus size model, television personality, author, inspirational speaker and clothing designer to encourage and epitomize positive body image, self-esteem and self-acceptance.

Plus size model Emme has written several books such as Life’s Little Emergencies, “Life’s Little Emergencies is the perfect companion for any woman driving along life’s bumpy roads.”, What Are You Hungry For, Morning Has Broken, and True Beauty, “At five-foot eleven and 190 pounds, supermodel Emme shatters the tyranny of the waif-like sylph as the only image of beauty…” To date Emme is the Chair Ambassador of the National Eating Disorders Association in America and supports other eating disorder organisations. She is also an Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Emme exploded onto the scene as the world’s first full-figured supermodel and host of E! Entertainment Television’s ‘Fashion Emergency‘ and has since appeared in many shows such as Entertainment Tonight, The Tyra Banks Show, and The Rosie O Donnell Show promoting her plus size ethos. Her new series has just hit the screens in America with a show called ‘More To Love’ – a reality dating show featuring plus size women wanting to find love. The show premiered Tuesday 28^th July from Fox. The show features plus size supermodel Emme as the host and follows one regular mans search for love among a group of real women determined to prove that love comes in all shapes and sizes. Emme truly believes that women should lead healthy and full lives without the pressure of size which can be enforced by society.
