Running the rule over men’s large shoes

Men shopping for large shoes have to toe the line and follow the rules to look good.

Large shoes , like any other, come in all shapes and sizes, so below we look at the some simple rules for picking and wearing the right shoes.

Starting with the simplest rule – always wear a shoe that is a darker shade than your trousers.

Next, never, ever wear outlandish socks with a smart outfit and good shoes. One guy lost promotion at work for turning up at the interview in  a great suit but yellow socks.

The only comment the boss wrote on his interview form was ‘yellow socks’ with lots of exclamations and underlines.

Try and match your shoes and belt – black to black, brown to brown. If you can’t black is often a safe bet.

• Brown shoes match tan, brown, beige, greens, other dark colours

• Tan shoes complement lighter earth tones, blue, beige, lighter tan

Trainers are good with jeans and casual trousers but leave the flashing lights and exotic colours to the kids.
