WOW, things really have changed! A plus size girl made history a couple of years ago when this teenager was crowned Miss Surrey and competed for Miss England in the final at size 16.
Chloe Marshall from Surrey was approached by a plus size model agency and she has been growing in popularity ever since. At 5ft 10in, 12st 5lb and a 36E, she is keen to point out that the average UK woman is a size 16 like her. She has tried to loose weight in the past but a smaller size simple did not not suit her frame. “I eat healthily, I go to the gym a lot. This is just the size I’m meant to be.”
Chloe Marshall feels she is a good role model for teenagers as “I’m curvy and healthy as well.” She burst into the spotlight when she was selected for Miss Surrey. She was overwhelmed by the press and television attention and have given interviews to all the national newspapers. She has appeared on 
This Morning, GMTV, Five News, Sky News, Southern News, CBS, NBC, Good Morning America and Inside Addition (USA). She has also been featured in many glossy magazines such as HELLO! Magazine, Women’s Own, Women’s Weekly, Glamour Magazine, Reveal, Best, Heat and OK!
As Chloe is still a teenager, she thinks it is important to still enjoy the usual teenage things such as hanging out with friends, experimenting with make-up, and going to the movies. However, she would love to be a top plus size model and support curvier women. As a top model she feels she can be a role model to teenagers and “show them that they don’t have to starve themselves to be beautiful, because they are beautiful no matter what size they are.”
So, how did Chloe Marshall do at the Miss England Finals 2008? Chloe finished a fantastic runner up. It was a closely fought final with only a few votes separating the top positions. But Chloe is still a winner as she was the first size 16 girl ever to reach the final of the Miss England competition. And her modeling career is still going strong. She is waiting at the moment to clinch deal with a prestigious New York based model agency.
