There is a new rising star in football. Kristof Van Hout was born in Belgium and is a professional footballer. At 22 he is goalkeeper for the Belgium club Standard Liege. But what makes him different from any other footballer? Well, at 2.08M (6ft10) he is the tallest professional football player.
R. Standard de Liège have signed goalkeeper Kristof Van Hout as cover for Sinan Bolat in their forthcoming UEFA Champions League group-stage campaign. The 2.08M tall 22-year-old and tallest football player arrives at the Belgian champions from KV Kortrijk for an undisclosed fee on a contract until 2012, with an option for a further year.
He showed his potential against Standard last season by helping to knock them out of the Belgium Cup in the last 32 with three penalty shoot-out saves. However, although Van Hout ended 2008/09 as Kortrijk’s first-choice goalkeeper, he reverted to second-choice behind Glenn Verbauwhede when they opened their campaign against RSC Anderlecht.
The 22 year old goalkeeper is not well known to the public however I am sure his striking good looks and football skill will see his rise to fame as the tallest football player.
