Times writer Alex Clark is a lady after a flattering size 18. Many years ago she bought a suit from Evans Clothing for a job interview thinking she looked great, only to discover, after bumpng into a friend, that in fact she looked badly dressed in a badly cut suit in a vile colour in cheap material. Ever since she has steered clear of Evans Clothing choosing regular retailers instead. But has the style at Evans [site: www.evans.co.uk] changed?
It is perhaps fair to say that indeed, many years ago, plus size clothing was unflattering with little choice. Over the years and especially more recently plus size fashion has changed to become up to the minute fashionable and trendy for all age ranges. The choice has grown dramatically and has been endorsed by many plus size celebrities such as Beth Ditto, Chaka Khan, and Crystal Renn. Finally fashion retailers have begun to meet the needs of the average sized woman and plus sizes as a whole.
In the meantime, Alex Clark has been “scouring “normal’ shops” for size 16 to 20 clothes and has come up trumps in many retailers such as Marks and Spencer, Ghost, and Toast to name a few and some designer labels too. However, because a lot of these clothes are not designed with the plus size figure in mind they do not fit as intended. Finding jeans that fit is even harder and has often ended with an embarrassed Alex leaving the shop buying a pair of shoes.
As high street shops have been changing to include more variety in plus size clothes, so has Evans Clothing been changing too. Their range of clothes has become fashionable and trendy. They offer many different looks to suit different ages and occasions. What is more, when you go into an Evans store you can rest assured they will carry your size as their sizes start from a size 14 and go up to a size 32.
One of the faces of Evans Clothing is Crystal Renn, an ideal choice for promoting plus size clothes to women seeking sensual, on-trend and up-to-the-minute clothes. However, for the shorter woman like Alex, is it possible to carry off the same look? Alex has her doubts. Whilst she has been tempted by the biker jackets and th lingerie, she is not convinced by the floral and polka dot prints. Alex still believes there is a gap in the market for better quality, affordable, and fashionable plus size clothes.
However, Evans Clothing has brought plus size clothes to the fore with their fashion campaigns using Ditto, Renn, and Chaka Khan. This type of publicity can only be good for the plus size market which can only improve in its offering.
