The UK is witnessing its first Plus Size Model Contest this year.
The contest has created quite a buzz online, with a lot of sites talking about it.
Plus Size Tall has launched a plus size model search, from November 8th 2010 to January 15th 2010.
The model search is sponsored by Evans, UK’s leading women’s clothing retailer for plus size women.
The winner will be offered a trip to Las Vegas in February 2011, where she will hit the catwalk at the Curvy Revolution, the world’s biggest plus size fashion convention.
Plus Size Tall’s mission is to encourage all initiatives making plus size fashion more visible. This is why Plus Size Tall has chosen to partner with the American event The Curvy Revolution.
The winner will be offered £500 worth of clothing provided by Evans, a plane trip to Las Vegas, and hotel nights at the Las Vegas Planet Hollywood.
She will also take part in the Curvy Revolution official fashion show, hitting the catwalk amongst famous American plus size models.
The runners-up will also be the lucky winners of Evans vouchers worth £250.
In order to take part, contestants must be UK residents of over 21, wear at least UK size 16 clothing, be at least 5′6″, be able to walk in heels 3″or higher, and apply.
There is a page dedicated to the model search (site: www.plus-size-tall.com), so that viewers can vote for who they think has what it takes to win the plus size model contest.
You can also manage your application online if you are one of those models using the same link.
The competition has caused quite a stir, with a lot of sites referring to it.
100percentpeople.com, madisonplus.com, blogtobealive.com, rubenisstas.org, curvykatie.wordpress.com and realwire.com are all blogs and websites that are providing information about the competition.
For those that are still undecided as to whether or not they should take part – I really think you should just bite the bullet and submit a photo – what’s the worst that could happen?
Not only is it exciting to be part of the UK’s first plus size model contest, but it will also make you feel more confident and comfortable in your own skin – especially if you are getting votes from other people!
