Velvet d’Amour, a famous plus-size model, stars in a French TV reality show, along with other US celebrities such as David Charvet of Baywatch fame and Brigitte Nielsen. All three speak French and join the mostly French cast of “La Ferme des Célébrités 3“, a show loosely based on “I’m a celebrity … Get me out of here!“. Velvet d’Amour has modeled for John Galliano and Jean-Paul Gaultier and is also a talented fashion photographer.
Velvet d’Amour is joining tonight the cast of French reality show “La Ferme Célébrités 3″, reveals our French siser publication Ma-Grande-Taille.com (source : Ferme Célébrités 3 : qui est Velvet d’Amour ?“).
A French reality show … with American celebrities!
This show takes place over several weeks and is adapted from “”I’m a celebrity … Get me out of here!”. Litterally, its French title means “Celebrity Farm”, as the show takes place on a faux farm, where “celebrities” have to take care of animals. This is the 3rd edition of the show. This year, it is being shot in South Africa.
“La Ferme des Célébrités 3″ is debuting tonight in France, at 9pm, on TF1, the number 1 TV channel of the country. French has-been or or wannabes will be staring in the show. Surprisingly, 3 Americans are to star in the show: Velvet d’Amour (plus size model), David Charvet (Baywatch) and Jeane Manson (a US singer well-known in France in the late 1970′s). Brigitte Nielsen, Sylvester Stallone’s ex-wife will also be there. All speak of them French fluently.
Velvet d’Amour, icon of the Parisian underground
Velvet d’Amour was born is a 42-year old American model and photographer, who spends her time between the US and France. She used to be a “regular” model in the late 1980′s but reached fame in 2006, when she modeled for John Galliano and Jean-Paul Gaultier.
An obese woman, Velvet d’Amour is not the kind of plus size model that could be featured in the usual plus size catalogues. As her agent says: Velvet is too fat to be a plus size model. But her energy and her personality have made her an icon of the Parisian underground.
She has starred in several videos for French music bands, as well as the tile role in the 2006 French movie “Avida”.
But Velvet is also a talented photographer. She is known for her beautiful pictures of curvy girls.
Let’s hope that Velvet d’Amour will be able to raise the visibility of obese and plus sized people, as well as promote size acceptance. “La Ferme Célébrités” is of course a slightly trashy show, but she will get here the kind of national exposure that no very cury woman has ever gained in France.
