Velvet d’Amour, the American plus size model who conquered French fashion and French TV

Velvet D’Amour is the stage name of this curvy American born actress. She is 43 years old this year, and all woman at 5’8″, 290lbs and a size 28. She has lived in Paris, France since 1996. She is well known today because of the media coverage she received after her appearance as a plus size model for Jean Paul Gaultiers spring/summer collection in 2007 which was shown in Paris in October 2006. She also walked down the catwalk for John Galliano’s show called ‘Everybody is Beautiful’. This US model lives in Paris, in Montmartre. Even her agent says that she’s “too big to be a plus size model”.
Not only is Velvet D’Amour an acclaimed plus size model, she is also well known for her fashion photography. She is also well known on the screen and can now be seen in a French TV reality show called La Ferme Célébrités 3 which is broadcast on TF1. The show takes place in Africa and is very much along the lines of ‘I’m a celebrity get me out of here.’
She is no stranger to the screen. Velvet D’Amour also featured in the title role of Avida, the 2006. The French film was directed by Gustave de Kervern and Benoît Delépine, and produced by Matthieu Kassovitz, which was selected for the 2006 Cannes and 2007 Tribeca Film Festivals. The film is a dark comedy about the kidnapping of a fat woman (named Avida) billionaire’s dog by three thugs but she turns the situation around in her favor.
Velvet D’Amour has an eight page fashion shoot appearing in PLUS Model Magazine called Islington Girl. These photos are very striking, modeling Evans clothes, and showing d’Amour to be a very talented fashion photographer.
