The Vogue site has a Vogue Curvy section (www.vogue.it) which specifically provides information and news on the latest curvy stars and fashion tips.
Under the “Curvy Icons” tab, the Vogue Curvy site (www.vogue.it) lists about 10 females who it thinks are top curvy icons for the curvy women of today.
The celebrities chosen to feature on this page are quite interesting, as they don’t all conform to the same ‘curvy’ image.
With choices that range from Jennifer Hudson to Fergie from Black-Eyed Peas, the curvy icons that Vogue chooses all have different body shapes, fashion choices and careers, displaying the variety of people that come under the “Curvy Icons” title.
The one thing they all have in common?
All are beautiful, independent and strong women – who have killer figures – whether on the more petite or larger side.
In this way, the “Curvy Icon” title doesn’t just represent your stereotypical, hour-glass shaped curves, but provides an insight into variety of beautiful shapes that women come in (which have been underplayed in the media with the focus on size zero models).
One of the Icons who is my favourite from the Vogue Curvy site (www.vogue.it) is Liv Tyler.
Apart from providing the reader with random facts about each Curvy Icon, like the fact that Liv Tyler owns a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel called Neal, the site also provides information on her life, career and interests.
On her own style she says:
“I’ve learned to dress for my body shape. I feel best about my legs but have a womanly tummy, so I always feel good when I have something a little loose, like dresses or shirts with Wolford tights or leggings. I love dresses by Isabel Marant and Iro, and Stella McCartney heels. I’m also addicted to American Vintage.”
Her blue eyes, porcelain skin, soft lips and generous curves enhance her overt sensuality so palpable on screen.
She has played some beautifully elegant and feminine roles – my favourite being that of princess of the Elves in Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Each Curvy Icon on the site has been provided with the same information – so you can read about all the different achievements these curvy women have already gained – it is both interesting and inspiring to read their stories.
