What dress size is Adele? And does it matter?

main5 What dress size is Adele? And does it matter? What size dress is Adele? And more importantly, should it really matter?

At a size 16, Adele would be considered to be fairly average in terms of her body shape; not small, but certainly not at the larger end of plus size either. And with her voice rather than her body as the main focus of her trade, why does the question of  ”what dress size” seem to dominate all aspects of press attention regarding the twice Grammy award winning singer? When she has put herself in the public eye as a recording artist and not a runway model, is it really an issue which should be brought up time and time again?

groovy What dress size is Adele? And does it matter?

Adele in Vogue’s “Shape” issue with clever posing and Photoshop trickery at play.

Most telling was Adele’s shoot in Vogue’s “Shape” issue back in 2009. Shot by Annie Leibovitz, she was dressed head to toe in black and then positioned in a contorted manner, with her hand concealing part of her face to make it look less round. The conflict is clear, with the accompany article speaking much about her eyes, hair and complexion.

Adele seems to have the right attitude towards it though, commenting that ”Fans are encouraged that I’m not a size 0 – that you don’t have to look a certain way to do well”. And surely, it is this attitude which holds a better quality to look for in a role model – someone with self acceptance and self confidence in their own beliefs.

I think it’s time that the question of what dress size is Adele to be forgotten, with the focus shifted to what’s really important – when’s the next albulm dropping?

  1. adele is definetly NOT a size 16. im a size 14-16 myself, and im defenitly not as curvy as adele. she is more likely to be a size 18-20.

    • I completely agree with you rebekka I’ve just dropped to a size16, she is definitley more 18-20 like u say…

  2. and another thing; if she really is as confident as she claims, than why would she lie about her size?

  3. I agree im a size 18 20 and shes bigger then me and your both right, Why would she lie if shes that confident.

  4. I thought maybe she’s just really short – so looks bigger than she is?! But she is 5ft 9… Well who knows… she does have quite a round face – so maybe she is a 16… and TV/pictures are rarely flattering… but I’d definitely say she’s an 18/20 – I’m 5ft 10 and a size 16/18 and I’d say she’s bigger than me (not in that vogue picture mind!! ha!)

It’s a shame that everyone is fixated on her weight/size and not her amazing voice and song writing.

  5. I’m fairly certain much of your “size” depends on height, body type and shape, what kind of clothing and the quality of the clothing as well. I fluctuate between an 18 and a 22 (24 on a really bad day), and I’m overall larger than Adele. I would guess she probably is a 16 in many articles of clothing. If you look at pictures over the last several years, her weight has gone up and down quite a bit. I’d say at her smallest she’s a 14-16, and at her largest, maybe a 20. She also has an incredibly round face, which tends to make women appear larger than they are. In any case, as the article points out, it really doesn’t matter, does? She exceptionally talented, and as to the question about her confidence and potentially lying about her weight, I say this: the woman put herself in the spotlight in a society whose standard of beauty is a size six and below. That’s pretty darn courageous, in my opinion.

  6. I agree about the fact what does Adele’s clothing size have anything to do with her great singing??? For example, some people were giving Barbara Streisand a hard time about the shape of her nose and kind of hinted around about maybe thinking about getting rhinoplasty. She refused, and I remember her comment to this day about those hints. “If I would have decided to change the shape of my nose, I bet it would have affected my typeand style of singing. How God made you as, you should be happy with”.
As far as the so-called TOO FAT issue with Adele, she will automatically shrink over a period of regular working in her career. When one works a lot most people tend to drop pounds. What is sad about those within Hollywood who tend to harrass some about their weight, they don’t fully realize how they are actually making it more difficult to lose the weight if one already has the plan to do so. As they say, “Get off my back you dumb monkey!!!”

  7. How can you all say ‘she’s not this, and she’s not that’ are you in her warbrode?

The camera adds pounds and weight, she may be a 16, im a 14 yet people always say i look bigger but who cares? I know what size i am and im happy. You all need to stop hating on others over the interenet and stop slating others.
Get backbones and only care what you look like and at the moment your all ugly in my eyes as your bullying someone clearly because their famous and you envy them.
