Womens plus sizes dresses seem to differ from store to store.
Although in the plus size community there is a general agreement on plus sizes, high street stores don’t seem to take this into account – for them, plus sizes can differ very widely.
Evans (site: evans.co.uk) seems to take the minimum plus size as a size 14, and supplies clothing in up to a size 32.
In this way, Evans is a great general site for plus size women, as they can be sure they will find clothing in their size.
This satin and sequin jumper dress is perfect for both dressing down for a casual day look, and dressing up for an evening outfit.
The contrast between satin and sequin makes this jumper unique, and it’s only £45.
If you want this jumper though, you’ll have to snap it up quick, as it’s selling out fast.
Another site that supplies womens plus size dresses is Dorothy Perkins (site: dorothyperkins.co.uk).
However, this is where Dorothy Perkins differs from Evans. Although the store considers itself to supply clothing for plus sizes, the average dress only provides up to a size 16.
Even though this may be the case, this dress is perfect for those that fit in the narrow selection of sizes it comes in.
This rise pink embellished waist dress is £45, and is an extremely pretty and feminine selection.
The extra shoulder sleeves will minimize large arms, and the pretty rose colour teamed with the sequinned waist gives a slightly bohemian feel to the dress.
The next womens plus size dresses store we are going to look at is New Look (site: newlook.co.uk).
According to this retailer, their plus size range – ‘Inspire’ – goes up to a size 26, (which is significantly better than Dorothy Perkins).
One of my favourites from this range is this animal and flower print vest top/dress.
At only £14 it’s a great bargain, and the mix of animal and flower print mean its completely up to date in the fashion stakes, with the longer length making it an easy wear to wear with jeans or leggings.
Daxon (site: daxon.co.uk) is another site supplying clothing for plus size women.
This site is more fitting for slightly more mature women, due to the types of clothing it supplies.
The site supplies clothing in up to a size 32, and so is a great alternative to shop for casual, everyday clothing.
La Redoute (site: laredoute.co.uk) provides great quality clothing at extremely cheap prices.
This creation mini sweater dress is only £21.
La Redoute goes up to a size 24, so does not have as wide a selection as Evans or Daxon.
